Most business owners don’t start out looking for a bookkeeper. They start when something doesn’t feel right in their books. In this short video, I’ll introduce myself, share why I started J Viel Bookkeeping, and explain how I help small business owners bring clarity, accuracy, and confidence back to their financials.

About J Viel Bookkeeping
When Your Books Tell the Truth, Better Decisions Follow.
Most business owners don’t start out looking for a bookkeeper.
They start looking because something doesn’t feel right.
Maybe the numbers don’t make sense.
Maybe cash flow feels tighter than it should.
Maybe tax time keeps bringing surprises.
Or maybe they simply don’t trust the reports they’re using to make important business decisions.
That’s where J Viel Bookkeeping comes in.
My goal isn’t simply to keep your books organized.
My goal is to help you build financial information you can trust—so you can make better business decisions with confidence.
Meet John Viel
I’m John Viel, owner of J Viel Bookkeeping and a QuickBooks Online Certified ProAdvisor.
As a U.S. Navy veteran, I built my career on discipline, integrity, and accountability. Those values continue to guide every client relationship today.
Before starting J Viel Bookkeeping, I spent nearly 30 years in the automotive industry, including 28 years managing sales and finance operations.
Working in dealership management taught me something that still shapes how I work today:
Good decisions come from reliable financial information.
Whether managing inventory, cash flow, financing, or profitability, I learned that businesses perform best when owners can trust the numbers they’re using every day—not just at tax time.
That’s the philosophy I bring to every bookkeeping engagement.
More Than Bookkeeping
Cleaning up a QuickBooks file is often where the work begins.
It isn’t where the value ends.
Once your books are accurate, they become one of the most valuable management tools in your business.
That’s why I work with clients to build accounting systems that provide meaningful financial information—not just reconciled bank accounts.
Whether it’s understanding job profitability, tracking cash flow, reviewing project costs, or simply knowing where the business stands, I believe bookkeeping should help owners answer important business questions—not just satisfy tax requirements.
Who I Work With
I work primarily with contractors and service-based businesses that want more than accurate bookkeeping.
They want financial information they can rely on.
Whether your books are behind, messy, incomplete, or simply no longer giving you answers you trust, I can help bring clarity back to your financial records.
Based in Lancaster, Ohio, I proudly serve businesses throughout Central Ohio—including Columbus, Hilliard, Dublin, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, Canal Winchester, Circleville, and surrounding communities.
I also provide secure remote bookkeeping services for businesses across the United States.
